Luke is a Partner in Clyde & Co's Sydney office specialising in complex casualty, liability, transportation and specialty insurance disputes. In his role as the national practice lead, he advises insurers, reinsurers, brokers and major corporates on high-value coverage and defence matters involving catastrophic injury, fatality events, product liability, property damage, regulatory investigations, class actions and multi-party litigation.
Luke is recognised for managing claims arising from technically complex incidents involving significant legal, commercial and reputational risk. His practice combines strategic coverage advice with the defence of complex claims, providing clients with end-to-end support from incident response and liability investigations through to litigation, settlement and recoveries. He has acted in matters throughout Australia and appeared in every major jurisdiction, including the High Court, Federal Court and the Supreme Courts of all States and Territories.
In addition to his defence practice, Luke regularly advises Australian, London and international insurers on policy interpretation, indemnity entitlement, aggregation issues, notifications, recoveries and strategic claims management. He frequently provides coverage advice in parallel with defence proceedings, enabling clients to make informed decisions regarding reserving, claims handling and dispute resolution.
Luke is also frequently engaged in matters involving regulatory scrutiny, investigations and incident response. He advises clients following significant events on regulatory engagement, preservation of evidence, expert coordination and stakeholder management, assisting organisations to navigate high-pressure environments while protecting commercial and legal objectives.

- Advising Australian and London market insurers on high-value catastrophic injury and fatality claims involving complex liability, causation and quantum issues. Matters include severe neurological injuries, spinal injuries, electrocution events and fatal accidents across a range of industries.

- Acting as coverage counsel for national and international insurers in relation to significant policy response disputes, including those related to the COVID-19 pandemic. - Acting on behalf of a significant disability care provider in response to a claim brought on behalf of a disabled client and their family (five claimants in total) arising from allegations of gross negligence in the provision of care, misappropriation of NDIS funding and institutional neglect in complaints handling.
Large Scale Class Actions and Multi-Party Litigation
- Acting on behalf of a major Australian university in connection with representative proceedings involving complex allegations, significant damages exposure and substantial reputational risk. Advising on defence strategy, stakeholder management, coverage issues and the resolution of large-scale multi-party claims.
Complex Claims in Regulated and Safety-Critical Industries
- Advising insurers and corporates operating in highly regulated and safety-critical sectors including aviation, transport, infrastructure and disability services. Historical Abuse
- Acting on behalf of a large religious institution (including all relevant subsidiary organisations) in responding to all claims of historical sexual abuse occurring within the relevant State.
- Acting on behalf of the national governing body of a peak Australian sport in responding to all claims arising from historical sexual abuse (including claims brought by way of the National Redress Scheme).
Product Liability and Recall Events
- Acting for insurers, manufacturers and distributors in connection with product liability and product recall matters involving allegations of product defect, bodily injury and property damage. Regularly advising on exposure assessments, defence strategy, recovery prospects and regulatory considerations associated with large-scale product incidents.
