Building Better Resilience: A Climate Risk Guide for the Built Environment in the UK

2021年11月30日 气候变化风险业务 英国和欧洲

Overview

The built environment is estimated to be responsible for 39% of global carbon emissions and, according to the UK Green Building Council, 25% of the total carbon footprint in the UK. Businesses operating in the construction and development sectors therefore have a pivotal role to play in the journey to reach net zero making them a prime target for reform.

To aid clients in navigating some of the key climate-related legal risks across the lifecycle of a project, we are pleased to launch our Climate Risk Guide for the Built environment in the UK.  In this guide we identify physical, transitional and liability risks arising out of the climate emergency and provide guidance to help our clients become more resilient and sustainable.

This guide covers all core stages of a construction/development project, from public procurement, design, planning, financing, insurance, construction, real estate, and operation and maintenance. It provides both a reference point for the key issues and risks that will likely be faced by legal, commercial and operational teams and also practical tips on how to mitigate these challenges.
