International law firm Clyde & Co and prominent Canadian insurance firm Nicholl Paskell-Mede are pleased to announce the formal merger of the two firms. From 1 September 2011, the Montreal and Toronto offices of Nicholl Paskell-Mede will trade under the Clyde & Co banner.

The new Canadian offices will benefit from Clyde & Co's strength in the London and global insurance markets while allowing the firm to engage with the significant insurance market in Canada.

Clyde & Co Canada offers a wide range of legal services, including: advocacy; alternative dispute resolution; insurance; professional liability; civil and commercial litigation; class-action (complex) litigation; and risk management.
Clyde & Co partner and board member James Burns said: "We are delighted to welcome our new Canadian partners and staff to the firm. The lawyers in our new Canadian offices are amongst the best in their fields, with existing work for Lloyd's of London syndicates as well as the Canadian and international insurance markets. Our expansion into Canada is consistent with our strategy of providing a full-service to our clients in our core sectors in key strategic locations. With its strong economy and significant insurance market, Canada was an obvious choice."

Clyde & Co Canada partner Jo-Anne Demers said: "This exciting merger allows us to transform our offering to clients, providing them with unrivalled global reach and international insurance expertise. It also enables us to grow within Canada through incoming international work and expansion into other provinces."
