Clyde & Co has been active in the Latin American market for over 25 years. Our Sao Paulo office forms a key part of our Latin American offering. Our team advises clients across our core sectors including oil & gas, energy, marine, infrastructure, trade & commodities and insurance. We offer tailored advice to Brazilian and international clients seeking to enter, operate and expand in Brazil and the wider region. Separately, we also offer advice to Brazilian clients on foreign law matters.
Our Sao Paulo lawyers advise international companies on entering, operating and growing in Brazil with a focus on M&A, corporate finance, joint ventures and shareholders' agreements, reorganisations, refinancings and other general corporate matters. Our team is highly experienced in advising Brazilian clients on outbound investments and dispute resolution.
We are closely supported also by our specialist Latin American insurance team based in London. This team acts across multiple lines including energy, engineering, construction, financial and professional, marine, oil & gas, product liability, property & casualty and specialty risks. The London team also advises on contractual, corporate, regulatory and discontinued business matters.
Clyde & Co recently advised on two of Brazil's largest-ever claims acting for multiple claimants, including SulAmérica CIA Nacional De Seguros (associated with ING), in a landmark GBP 550 million dispute with Enesa Engenharia that resulted in changes to Brazilian law. Another key highlight saw us represent Zurich and Swiss Re, in addition to several other claimants, in a USD 1 billion damages case relating to the Jirau Dam project in western Brazil.
Through our firm's global outlook, we have built a pragmatic and solutions focused team in Sao Paulo and across our network of offices. Many of our Spanish and Portuguese-speaking lawyers are also dual qualified.
