Paul has extensive experience in civil fraud and misfeasance, recovery of assets and insolvency related litigation. In the marine and energy sectors, he has a long history of advising on crewing and manning issues, Paul has also dealt with major incidents in relation to health and safety, personal injury and loss of life.

Paul has a particular focus on directors' duties and boardroom people issues, especially those involving reputational risk, privacy and whistleblowing. He also specialises in restrictive covenants, breach of confidence and team moves. Paul has considerable experience in international employment law issues, especially in the US, Middle East, India and Europe.

Paul is a regular speaker at Maritime Labour conferences. He is also an accredited Mediator focusing on employment disputes.

Paul is chair of the firm's Community Council, which manages Community Investment and CSR across the practice. He has a keen interest in improving diversity and inclusion within the law. He is also a trustee of the National Pro Bono Centre and chairman of LawWorks, the operating name of the Solicitors Pro Bono Group, for which he received a CBE in the 2008 Queen's Birthday honours and was previously selected by the Lawyer Magazine as one of the "Hot 100" lawyers.
