Sam Lipsitz

Full Profile

Sam Lipsitz represents insurers and reinsurers in various types of coverage inquiries and disputes, including cases arising out of coverage denials, bad faith litigation, and policy interpretation. His clients include regional, national, and international insurance companies involved in diverse business industries, including technology, commercial real estate/construction, food and restaurant, healthcare, automotive, product manufacturing, and hospitality. Sam's practice partially consists of preparation of coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, and coverage declination letters on behalf of clients. Sam also litigates cases in state and federal court involving bad faith claims, policyholder class actions, complex claim histories, declaratory relief, rescission, and/or reformation with respect to underlying insurance policies.

Sam’s experience in insurance and coverage analysis enables him to investigate and evaluate insurance coverage issues and provide sound legal guidance to clients involved in litigation. He works closely with clients and claims representatives to provide creative solutions to complex issues and provides practical advice as to pertinent rights and obligations, in order to reach favorable resolutions of their disputes. He enjoys the collaborative work process that often comprises the process of serving his client’s interests. 

Sam previously worked for a law firm based on the west coast, as well as the nation’s largest title insurance company.

Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Sam presently resides in San Francisco. When not helping clients with their legal needs, he spends his time exploring the city and coast with his wife and dog, traveling with family and friends, following his favorite sports teams, cooking, and enjoying the outdoors.
