Sophie is an Associate in the Insurance, Financial and Professional Disputes department in the London office, having commenced training at the firm in 2016.

Sophie has extensive experience in both defence and coverage work, representing global insurers and insureds across the professional liability and financial lines sectors. Sophie's core practice areas include advising on insurance coverage and disputes relating to solicitors' negligence, broker errors and omissions and investigations against financial institutions and directors and officers. Sophie regularly advises international clients on cases involving multi-jurisdictional issues such as tax evasion, bribery and corruption. She has been engaged in advising insurers on a number of high-value derivative proceedings and securities class actions and more recently, in dealing with a variety of professional liability claims as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

To date, Sophie has enjoyed an international secondment to our San Francisco office, gaining knowledge of the US market and the cyber and technology sector, as well as a client secondment to the International Financial Lines claims handling team at one of the firm's key clients.

  • Representing London market insurers in connection with shareholder class actions and derivative claims arising out of cross-border tax evasion and bribery scandals
  • Defending solicitors in a claim brought on grounds of vicarious liability by the victim of a sophisticated fraud
  • Defending legal counsel in a $100 million negligence action relating to advice regarding the terms of trade credit insurance
  • Advising insurers in relation to directors and officers’ liability and insolvency proceedings following the collapse of several oil companies
