Gareth is a Legal Director in the Manchester Office who initially joined Clyde & Co in May 2016 having been admitted as a solicitor in 2014.

Gareth has extensive advisory and litigation experience involving property damage liability claims, subrogated recoveries, and policy coverage disputes. His work has focused particularly on complex, multi-party disputes arising out of fires, escapes of water, product liability and construction & engineering related incidents. Gareth also has vast experience of mediation and other forms of ADR. Gareth also regularly delivers training and seminars to clients.

Experience
  • Advising insurers and defending a multi-party TCC claim arising from the alleged defective design and installation of a roof system on a Hospital as part of a PFI project – one of The Lawyer’s Top 20 Claims of 2022
  • Advising insurers on the decision to void an insurance policy following the policyholder’s failure to make a fair presentation of the risk at inception and renewal. Successfully defended the subsequent litigation issued by the policyholder to challenge the voidance decision.
  • Advising insurers on policy coverage issues that arose following the collapse of a hotel building during Storm Ciara.
  • Pursuing a subrogated recovery claim following a significant fire caused by hot works on the roof of a large building, with damages in excess of £1.2million.
  • Advising insurers of an industry leading contractor in relation to a liability claim arising out of an escape of water during water mains repair works in Central London.
  • Advising insurers of a major contractor in relation to a series of litigated liability claims arising out of a catastrophic landslide which affected a row of terraced houses in the Whitby area.
