Full Profile

Blanche was responsible for the ground breaking Court of Appeal decision in Habib –v- Singh (2011) dealing with the application of the principles in Ladd–v-Marshall and the overturning of a concluded trial decision due to fresh evidence being found post-judgment.

Blanche also has a keen interest in civil committal proceedings, securing one of the longest prison sentences for contempt of court against a fraudster in the case of AIG –v- Parmar (2016).

She also has some criminal experience, having been instructed on a number of private prosecutions.

She is presently focusing her expertise on cases of exaggeration/fundamental dishonesty in higher value claims, using section 57 of the Criminal Justice and Courts Act 2015 to have them dismissed in their entirety.

Experience
  • Successfully secured a finding of section 57 fundamental dishonesty in a personal injury claim worth around £500,000.00; the claim was dismissed in its entirety (including the genuine elements).
  • Has acted in committal proceedings for contempt of court, securing a 12 month prison sentence in one case (stemming from a staged motor accident).
  • Supervision of a team of around ten fee earners (lawyers and paralegals), particularly at pre-trial stage and with reference to risk and improving prospects.
