Daniel is a Senior Associate in the professional and financial disputes team in the Melbourne office. He joined the firm in June 2022, having recently worked at one of Australia’s largest law firms.

By applying his first-rate technical skills and straight-talking approach, Daniel helps clients cut through complex factual and legal issues in order to achieve excellent, commercial results. His special expertise are in contract and  consumer law disputes, and corporations law matters including directors’ duties and insolvency.

Daniel firmly believes in ‘giving back’. He is a member of the Australian Restructuring, Insolvency and Turnaround Association young professionals committee, and is a mentor in the Women in Insolvency and Restructuring Victoria mentoring program. He has also given pro bono assistance as part of the Federal Court’s self-represented litigants service.

Outside of work, Daniel loves spending time with his family, having a hit of tennis, and bushwalking.

  • Professional Practices: Fiduciary and directors’ duties; negligence actions; and insolvency. Daniel has successfully acted for insolvency practitioners and directors alike in corporations law matters, including in public examinations, insolvent trading and breach of duty claims. Further, on the advisory front, he has advised individual directors on their duties and exposure.
     
  • Retail and Consumer: Misleading and deceptive conduct; and claims arising out of mergers and acquisitions (including arising out the adequacy of due diligence). Daniel has recently acted for a private equity fund that purchased a significant national business that was saddled with undisclosed wage issues and was the subject of a Fair Work investigation. The purchaser brought claims against the vendors relying on a contractual indemnity, and personal claims against the vendor directors for breach of directors’ duties after his review of the discovery which disclosed the directors’ knowledge of wrongdoing.
     
  • Insurance & Reinsurance: Daniel has successfully acted in various motor vehicle and property damage subrogated claims. He is currently acting in a dispute involving a complex trade credit insurance arrangements, cross-jurisdictional investors and regulatory bodies.
