Global law firm Clyde & Co has today announced the hire of experienced litigator Christoph Pies as Counsel to continue the expansion of its German and international Litigation & Arbitration practice in Düsseldorf.

Christoph acts for international and national clients in complex commercial, liability and corporate litigation and arbitration proceedings. A particular focus of his practice is disputes in the areas of international trade, infrastructure as well as shareholder disputes. Prior to joining Clyde & Co, Christoph was a salaried partner within the Dispute Resolution practice of Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek in Berlin.

Christoph comments: "Clyde & Co's German and international disputes team has excellent expertise, very distinctive specialisations and a strong industry focus. Clyde & Co therefore offers me ideal conditions to continue my advisory practice on challenging commercial, liability and corporate disputes on a global platform. I am very much looking forward to expanding and further shaping Clyde & Co's German and international Litigation & Arbitration practice together with the teams in Hamburg, Munich and our global offices."

Dr Henning Schaloske, Partner and Head of Clyde & Co’s Düsseldorf office, adds: "With Christoph Pies, we are continuing to develop our Litigation & Arbitration practice in a targeted manner. Our aim is to provide our German and international clients with a service that combines the highest legal quality with commercial expertise and the necessary pragmatism - in a particularly global, international and diverse area of law."

Christoph’s arrival continues the growth of the firm’s litigation and arbitration team in Germany in recent years. Since the opening of Clyde & Co’s first German office in Düsseldorf in 2016, the firm has opened a Hamburg office in 2019 with four partners, Dan Jones, Dr Tim Schommer, Dr Eckehard Volz and Dr Volker Lücke, who were joined most recently by Georg Scherpf as Counsel. The firm subsequently opened its Munich office in February 2021 with leading litigation and dispute resolution lawyer Dr Sven Förster. The firm has also developed its international arbitration team more broadly in continental Europe following the hire of Head of Arbitration in Paris, Nadia Darwazeh in 2018, as well as partners Hery Ranjeva and Ivan Urzhumov, also in Paris, in 2020.
