Bangkok, 28 May 2025: Phutita Luksilakul further strengthens the firm’s trade and insurance practice in the ASEAN region
Global law firm Clyde & Co today announces the promotion to partner of Phutita Luksilakul in Bangkok. The appointment enables the firm to further strengthen its specialised marine and shipping dispute resolution expertise and continue to grow its relationships with Thai-based insurers and traders.
Specialised Maritime Law and Dispute expertise
Phutita specialises in marine transport with expertise in cargo recovery claims against carriers and shipowners. She has extensive experience with handling Thai ship arrest procedures and provides guidance to clients in crisis situations to enhance recovery prospects.
She has over 12 years of litigation practice spanning maritime claims, and commercial disputes including carrier liability, contractual conflicts, tort claims, environment, and debt recovery. Phutita has a deep understanding of Thai civil procedure and provides strategic guidance and practical risk assessments prior and during litigation proceedings.
Ik Wei Chong, Partner, Energy, Marine and Trade, said: “Phutita‘s elevation to partner is fantastic and will help with our focus on further growing our offering in the trade and marine sector in ASEAN.”
Simon McConnell, APAC Board Chair, Partner, Hong Kong, said: “Phutita’s appointment underlines our growing, strong presence in the region in our core sectors, and the importance of Bangkok as a local trade and insurance hub.”
Phutita Luksilakul said: “I look forward to growing the firm’s regional marine and trade practice and the opportunities arising from the rapidly changing markets in these sectors. There is a strong client demand for lawyers who can help navigate these risks.”
Regional and global offering
The appointment further strengthens Clyde & Co’s offering in Bangkok, an increasingly important trading and insurance hub, and the expanding ASEAN region. The Bangkok office is part of Clyde & Co’s regional offering of over 350 legal professionals who advise clients in Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Mainland China, and across the ASEAN region and South Asia.
Clyde & Co first opened in Asia Pacific in Hong Kong over 40 years ago, as one of the first international market entrants, and has had a presence in Singapore for over 30 years. The firm is also ideally placed to handle local work in the region, through its Clyde & Co Clasis Joint Law Venture in Singapore, and Clyde & Co Westlink in Mainland China.
Clyde & Co’s global Energy, Marine and Trade practice has been established over eight decades ago and advises clients on sector regulation and the rapidly evolving risk landscape due to geopolitical and market factors. The firm’s lawyers act for clients across contentious and non-contentious disciplines, and often across multiple jurisdictions including developing countries.
