Clyde & Co hires Janine Clark as Partner in Brisbane

Global law firm Clyde & Co today announces the hire of Janine Clark as Partner. Janine is joining the firm’s casualty practice and has a focus on personal injury claims, third-party property damage including contribution and recovery claims, and coverage disputes.

Janine spent over a decade practising in London where she gained experience working with large corporations, London syndicates, motor and public liability insurers with particular emphasis on large loss and catastrophic injury.

A global casualty claims defence offering

Janine will form part of Clyde & Co’s casualty claims defence practice, which acts for insurers and their policyholders across the full spectrum of claims, including catastrophic injury, motor, fraud, legacy and disease, employers’ liability, public liability, credit hire, property liability, and abuse and neglect.

In Australia, the practice regularly handles high-profile, multi-party and multi-jurisdictional disputes, leveraging the local and global firm knowledge, and has a dedicated team of incident response lawyers and consultants.

Gareth Horne, Clyde & Co’s Head of Insurance, Australia, said: “We have a clear vision to further enhance our offering across the core lines of insurance business in Australia. Janine has a deep connection with both the domestic and London markets and her introduction, in the Brisbane office, will add further depth and technical excellence to our casualty practice.”

Luke O’Kane, Partner, Insurance, said: “We have seen significant growth in the casualty space over the past two years, and clients continue to rely on us for their most complex work. Bringing Janine into the team enables us to further grow the practice while fully servicing our existing, long-standing client base.”

Rebecca Kelly, Australia Managing Partner, said: “It is an exciting time to welcome Janine to the partnership. We continue to invest in the insurance sector where we anticipate growing client demand, and to bolster our teams with high-performing lateral talent.”

Janine Clark said: “I am delighted to join a leading global insurance firm and contribute to the team’s future successes assisting clients with their high-profile, complex matters.”

Janine is a committee member for the Association for Women in Insurance Queensland and ranked by Best Lawyers 2025 for insurance law.

Harnessing AI in the global casualty practice

In its global casualty practice, Clyde & Co holds extensive data sets, which enables the firm to detect claims fraud and help clients predict it. It means Clyde & Co can provide detailed, benchmarked Management Information (MI) to clients, helping identify areas where claims handling performance can be improved, and it allows AI and machine learning to function more effectively.

Clyde & Co’s service offering Clyde & Co Newton includes products that automate much of the claims process, which frees up clients’ claims teams and helps them reduce overall indemnity spend.
