Barbara joins the firm from DAC Beachcroft where she headed up their London disease team. She brings with her more than 25 years’ experience in handling all aspects of injury and disease claims, particularly complex, high-value employers' liability claims and public and product liability cases.

Barbara has specialist knowledge of stress, asbestos and poisoning claims, and has a particular interest in new and emerging trends in the disease arena, including occupational cancer and, more recently, Covid-19.

David Tait, partner at Clyde & Co, says: “Barbara has an incredible depth and breadth of experience in handling multi-million pound claims arising from disease and workplace stress. Her appointment further strengthens our 85-strong team in guiding insurers, self-insured companies, multinationals and public sector bodies through high value claims, particularly those relating to work-related stress.”

Barbara Goddard adds: “The last decade has seen a significant increase in incidents of work-related stress, which has been compounded further by the Coronavirus pandemic. As such, I’m delighted to be joining Clyde & Co’s market-leading disease team at this time to support insurers and other clients in navigating the growing volume of these types of claims”.

Clyde & Co’s occupational disease and legacy claims team is highly respected within the market, acting for 13 of the top 15 UK insurers as well as SMEs, brokers, public sector and corporate clients.
