Sydney, 30 October 2025: Partner appointment will further bolster the firm’s corporate insurance and regulatory offering in the region

Clyde & Co hires Malcolm Wood as Partner in Sydney

Global law firm Clyde & Co today announces the hire of Malcolm Wood as partner in Sydney. He re-joins the firm from Gilchrist Connell on 8 December 2025. The partner hire will further grow the firm’s corporate and commercial offering as well as its insurance offering.

Malcolm has a track record in providing corporate and commercial legal advice to clients at all stages of their business cycles – from corporate governance, establishment, funding and distribution, through to mergers and acquisitions, and exits.

From an insurance and disputes perspective, Malcolm provides advice in association with large and complex legal proceedings and has done so in association with legal proceedings that are in the media and highly publicised.

In-depth Corporate Insurance and Regulatory Expertise

Malcolm specialises in corporate and commercial and mergers & acquisitions. He has provided services to start-ups and ASX-listed entities alike in the context of corporate governance, buy-ins and structuring, capital raising, expansion and exit transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and various commercial arrangements and agreements with third parties involving intellectual property, licensing, distribution and operations.

In insurance, Malcolm has extensive experience in financial lines and directors’ and officers’ advisory work and defence work. In that capacity, he has acted and provided advice in association with some of Australia’s largest litigated claims, including various class actions and corporate collapses.

He has been recognised by Best Lawyers Australia in 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Rebecca Kelly, Australia Managing Partner, Brisbane, said: “Malcolm’s arrival significantly enhances our corporate commercial, insurance, and regulatory capabilities. With this strengthened offering, we are exceptionally well positioned to support our corporate and insurance clients in successfully navigating risk, regulatory change, and the complexities of today’s dynamic business environment.”

Gareth Horne, Head of Insurance, Australia, Sydney, said: “The further strengthening of our capabilities in these areas will ensure we meet strong client demand arising in the context of the rapidly changing regulatory landscape.”

Growing Corporate Insurance and Regulatory Offering

The appointment further strengthens Clyde & Co’s regional transactional, corporate and regulatory capabilities servicing insurance clients across Australia and the wider region.
