In this webinar the panel discusses key issues around the hiring and integration of new partners, including the disclosure of confidential business and client information, data protection, restrictive covenants and on-boarding considerations.
Lateral hires are a key part of business growth for law firms, and yet there is a natural conflict to overcome between the information required for a partner's move to a new firm, elements which will help make a move successful, and a partner’s obligations – both to their current firm and regulatory obligations.
There is also a natural conflict between a partner’s desire to be a success in their new firm, and their obligations to their current firm to act in its best interests (and to abide by restrictive covenants).
The panel includes Fergal Cathie, our lead regulatory lawyer for law firms (Chair), Chris Holme who works with a number of law firms in relation to people issues and leads our employment team’s professional services sector group, and Niya Phiri from our law firm liability, regulatory, disciplinary and investigations team. Chris also brought to bear his experience in lateral hires, as a member of both our UK Board, and lateral partner hire committee.
