Cyber risk, artificial intelligence, climate-related exposures and geopolitical uncertainty continue to reshape the insurance disputes landscape.
In the latest Insurance Litigation 2026 Global Practice Guide, published by Chambers and Partners, contributors from nearly 30 jurisdictions examine the key drivers of insurance litigation and the evolving legal, regulatory and commercial issues facing insurers around the world.
The guide identifies cyber, technology and AI-related claims as one of the most significant emerging areas of dispute, with increasing attention on ransomware incidents, data breaches, cloud outages, silent cyber exposure and AI-related liabilities. At the same time, climate change and environmental risks continue to influence claims activity across multiple lines of business, while ESG-related obligations are creating new areas of scrutiny for directors, officers and insurers.
Geopolitical instability remains another major theme, with sanctions, political violence, war risks and supply chain disruption generating increasingly complex coverage disputes across global markets. Contributors also highlight the continued importance of clear policy wording, particularly as insurers respond to evolving and interconnected risks.
The UK chapter and global introduction were authored by Emma Ager of Clyde & Co, drawing together developments and trends from jurisdictions across Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia Pacific.
