Global law firm Clyde & Co has appointed Jamie McKie as a partner in London in its Planning, Infrastructure and Environment Group.
Jamie joins from Travers Smith, where he led the planning practice. He brings more than 15 years’ experience advising on town and country planning matters, including major regeneration and mixed-use developments, residential schemes, compulsory purchase and planning appeals.
He will work alongside partner Brian Greenwood as part of the firm’s planning, infrastructure and environment team, which operates across Clyde & Co’s real estate, projects, construction, energy and corporate practices and forms part of the firm’s wider strategy to grow these practices.
Jamie began his career in local government, qualifying at Enfield Council and later holding senior roles at Westminster City Council and the Local Government Association. He moved into private practice in 2015, and in his most recent role at Travers Smith, built and led its planning offering.
His appointment reflects Clyde & Co’s focus on expanding its planning and environmental capability in response to increasing client demand, particularly in relation to large-scale development and infrastructure projects. The team has been - and is currently - instructed on numerous major infrastructure projects including NSIPs, offshore and inland energy projects, data centres, transport schemes ranging from ports and highways to airports, commercial office developments and residential development proposals both inner-city and out-of-town. The team and the firm continue to see strong opportunities in these sectors.
Brian Greenwood, Partner at Clyde & Co, said:
“Jamie’s arrival is an important step for our team. His experience in development planning complements our existing strengths in infrastructure and environmental work. Together, we will be well placed to support clients across a full range of planning matters.”
Jamie McKie added:
“There’s currently a real momentum in the planning and infrastructure sector, so I’m excited to join Clyde & Co and play a part in making the most of the opportunities ahead. The firm’s broad offering creates a strong platform for advising on increasingly complex, large-scale projects, and I’m looking forward to working closely with colleagues to continue building and strengthening the practice.”
Jamie’s arrival will also support closer collaboration with the firm’s real estate team and provide additional capacity to meet demand from both existing clients and new mandates across the development sector.
Clyde & Co’s Planning, Infrastructure and Environment Group provides strategic and constructive legal solutions to help clients secure the successful outcomes they require.
