Clyde & Co has advised Etihad Credit Insurance (ECI), the UAE's federal export credit company, on a US$50 million, three-year trade finance facility provided by Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) to Gerald Metals Sàrl, a subsidiary of global commodity trader Gerald Group.
The Clyde & Co team advising ECI was led by Partner Keith Hutchison, with support from Partner Olivia Darlington. The transaction brings together ECI's export credit support, ADCB's financing capabilities and Gerald Group's global trading platform to facilitate the export of UAE-origin non-oil commodities, supporting the UAE's economic diversification agenda and reinforcing the country's position as a global trade hub.
The facility represents Gerald Group's first ECI-backed financing and supports the continued expansion of UAE-origin trade flows across international metals markets. The transaction also demonstrates the growing sophistication of the UAE's trade finance ecosystem and the increasing role of export credit solutions in enabling resilient cross-border trade.
