Clyde & Co boosts Asia Pacific aviation practice in Singapore

Global law firm Clyde & Co today announces the relocation of partner Jahnavi Ramachandran from London to Singapore to further strengthen the firm’s global aviation practice in Asia Pacific. She will be based in the firm’s Singapore office and support clients across the Asia Pacific region.

Jahnavi is an aviation finance specialist advising a wide range of banks, export credit agencies, lessors and airlines and operators on the acquisition, finance and leasing of aviation assets including commercial aircraft, helicopters, engines and airport slots. Jahnavi has advised her clients on numerous debt financings (including JOLCOs and PDP financings), operating leases and restructurings and has worked on innovative transactions such as airport slot financings.

Significant market growth and opportunities

Jahnavi’s relocation is a strategic investment in the firm’s Asia Pacific aviation practice, strongly positioning it to support clients through a period of significant industry transformation. As the sector responds to aircraft availability and supply chain pressure, alongside increasingly fragmented regulatory and airspace frameworks, the firm’s growing practice in the region is helping clients navigate complexity.

This move reflects the firm’s longer term growth strategy in Asia Pacific, where aviation market expansion is forecast to outpace more mature regions such as Europe and North America. Accelerated growth across emerging economies including Vietnam and Indonesia, as well as in high growth markets such as China, continues to reinforce the region’s strategic importance to the global aviation landscape.

Jahnavi says: “There are tremendous opportunities as our clients capitalise on the expanding aviation markets across the region, including in emerging economies. At the same time there is an increased focus on sustainability, operational resilience and geopolitical volatility and I look forward to supporting our clients in their business ventures as they navigate this complex environment.

Thomas Choo, Singapore Managing Partner, said: “I am delighted to welcome Jahnavi to the team in Singapore. As a key global aviation and finance hub, Singapore presents the ideal base to provide services to our local, global and regional clients.

Kevin Sutherland, Partner, Chair of the Global Aviation Practice Group, San Francisco, comments: “The Asia Pacific aviation market is going to continue to unlock significant potential over the next few years, and as a firm we are in a prime position to service the work of global and local clients as they take advantage of this market growth. With change come both risks and opportunities, and we are here to guide our clients as they grow their business.”

Strong global offering

The firms’ global aviation practice brings together over 120 specialist lawyers across over 70 offices worldwide, including lawyers with experience working for government regulators, in-house for airlines, as aeronautical engineers, aircraft and powerplant mechanics and pilots.

Clyde & Co is one of few firms able to provide an end-to-end aviation legal service, covering all sectors of the aviation industry with specialist knowledge, and operating through a single global practice group.

The firm recently marked 100 years of advising clients on aviation law, through its earlier merger with Beaumont & Son.
