Clyde & Co today announces the appointment of Jeff Cottle as Head of Regulatory & Investigations, White-Collar Crime and Sanctions, Americas, and Co-Head of White-Collar Crime and Sanctions, EMEA, marking the launch of a dedicated Regulatory & Investigations (R&I) capability in the Americas.
Jeff, who joins the firm from Eversheds Sutherland - where he was Co-Head of the National
Security Practice and Global Co-Head of the Industrials Sector - will be based in Clyde & Co’s Washington, D.C. office and will work closely with its global network of offices. He will materially enhance the firm’s ability to support clients in the US and anywhere in the world facing the most complex enforcement and regulatory risks.
A highly regarded specialist in sanctions and export controls compliance, anti-corruption, anti-money laundering and investigations, Jeff’s practice spans multiple sectors including infrastructure, insurance, trading, energy, financial services, aviation and maritime, and he has advised some of the world’s largest corporations on complex, cross-border matters in high-risk jurisdictions, including those involving US and international authorities.
Jeff is a dual citizen of the US and UK, is qualified in both jurisdictions, and has over thirty years of experience as a lawyer, including a decade in senior in-house roles at global companies in the US and the UK. He is a retired Commander in the US Navy, having served as a decorated US Naval Intelligence Officer in operations around the globe.
Eileen King Bower, Partner and Chair of Clyde & Co’s North American Board, said:
“Regulatory and enforcement risk continues to rise globally, with agility central to client needs and US authorities playing an influential role across borders, including in relation to sanctions and export controls. Jeff’s arrival represents a significant strategic investment for the firm as we build a truly integrated global regulatory and investigations capability. His leadership, international profile and deep sector experience will be instrumental as we continue to support clients through their most complex and sensitive matters.”
Sam Tate, Partner and Global Head of Regulatory & Investigations at Clyde & Co, added:
“Jeff has the perfect mix of in-house experience coupled with specialist enforcement and compliance knowledge that has made him a stand-out leader in his field. It is a pleasure to welcome him to Clyde & Co as we strategically expand our Regulatory & Investigations offering. As client demand for agile US regulatory and investigations advice continues to grow, Jeff is ideally placed to support the practice.
“Jeff brings credibility with US regulators, strong client relationships across key industries and a proven track record of working collaboratively and building high-performing teams. His appointment significantly enhances our ability to advise clients on complex, high-stakes investigations and sanctions matters worldwide.”
