Cristian joined Clyde & Co as a Master Mariner in 2020 in the Energy, Marine and Natural Resources team based in Guildford, and has been working with various teams across the Guildford, London, Newcastle, Manchester and Singapore offices.

He provides technical assistance on maritime casualties and cargo matters. His seagoing experience spanned over 15 years, and he also worked as a Marine Surveyor/Consultant as well as Lecturer (and completed his PhD) before joining Clyde & Co.

Cristian combines his practical experience acquired on ships on worldwide voyages with the technical knowledge gained through experience on shore. This enables him to provide support and expertise in conducting investigations on issues involving navigation as well as on a variety of dry bulk, breakbulk and containerised cargo matters. 

Apart from his Master Mariner qualification, Cristian has a PhD in Navigation and Ship Management, where he studied the parametric rolling of containerships.

  • Assisting clients in aspects of container stows collapse on containerships and parametric rolling
  • Assisting client in aspects of fire on board due to misdeclaration of dangerous goods in containers 
  • Assisting clients in aspects of shifting of cargo during the voyage and improper stowage and lashing of cargo
  • Assisting clients with claims concerning shortage and damage of dry cargoes
  • Defending GA contribution claims involving navigation and other key aspects, analysing whether due diligence was exercised to make a ship seaworthy
