Thomas Blomstrom focuses his practice on insurance coverage and extra-contractual litigation. He is an accomplished motions and appellate practitioner with experience in a variety of both first-party and liability coverages. His litigation background also includes diverse experience in the defense of catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death claims, products and premises liability suits, and commercial contractual disputes. Thomas has delivered oral arguments in the Colorado Court of Appeals and Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals in the successful defense of appeals.
In addition to his career in private practice, Thomas previously served as in-house counsel in the claims legal department of a national property and casualty insurer for six years, most recently as the Director of Claims Legal. In that role, Thomas managed extra-contractual risk and litigation in jurisdictions across the United States, developed and delivered training on good faith claims handling, and routinely collaborated with underwriting in the development and modification of policy forms. Due to his mix of experience as both outside and in-house counsel, Thomas understands the needs of insurer clients and the collaboration necessary to deliver pragmatic solutions to complex and difficult problems.
