Nourchene advises and defends major airlines and their insurers across multiple jurisdictions around the world in a range of disputes governed by the international treaties for carriage by air or the applicable domestic law. Nourchene's practice additionally covers commercial and regulatory work including airline licensing, ownership and control issues and traffic rights.

Before joining Clyde, Nourchene trained in the international arbitration practice of Shearman & Sterling in Paris, and at the Civil Litigation Division of the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia in Washington DC.

Nourchene holds an LL.M. in US law and a Certificate in International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution from Georgetown University Law Center and an LLB and a Master's degree in International Trade Law and International Arbitration from Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne law school. She was the Notes Editor of the Georgetown Journal of International Law (Vol.48).

Nourchene’s international legal mindset, her familiarity with different legal cultures and forensic and pragmatic approach in solving legal issues makes her an asset in dealing with international dispute resolution and cross-border business transactions.

  • Regularly advises airlines, their insurers and reinsurers in Europe, Africa and the Middle East on civil liability claims before foreign jurisdictions around the world arising under international conventions for air carriage
  • Recently conducted successful settlement negotiations following the crash of an aircraft in North Africa
  • Defence and settlement negotiations for an African carrier arising from a major loss in 2014
  • Analysed Air Services Bilateral Agreements for a major European airline aiming to launch a new airline in the Middle East and provided advise on key provisions notably ownership and control and permitted routes
  • Advised a European Airline on its General Services Agreements model to be later implemented around the world mainly the contractual provisions relating to the performance and termination of the contract, unforeseen circumstances, force majeure, the dispute resolution provision, the applicable law to the contract and the allocation of liability
  • Advised a client about a potential ICC arbitration in Paris particularly the interpretation of the arbitration clause in the parties’ contract, the ICC procedural requirements and the relevant ICC Rules of Arbitration applicable to the dispute
