Ross is a Senior Associate in the Insurance, Professional and Financial Disputes team, based in the Glasgow and Edinburgh offices.

He joined Clyde & Co in April 2023.  Ross has worked exclusively in the litigation and dispute resolution arena for over 10 years. He specialises in commercial, construction, and professional indemnity insurance disputes. Ross has successfully acted for clients in numerous mediations and adjudications, as well as litigations in the Scottish Courts.

Ross has considerable experience in construction and professional negligence disputes.  He has developed a specialism in defending claims against construction professionals, with a focus on engineers, architects, clerks of works, and design and build contractors. Beyond this, Ross also has vast experience in advising government, private and public sector clients in high profile and high value cases concerning issues of contractual interpretation, workmanship, and design.

Ross has a pragmatic and strategic approach to dispute resolution, offering clients a bespoke service that is tailored to suit their individual needs.

  • Successfully advising building contractor in a landmark case on collateral warranties in construction contracts in Scotland.
  • Advising a Clerk of Works in a multi-million pound dispute concerning the requirement of a decree for a party to have a right of relief against any joint wrongdoer.
  • Lead solicitor in construction dispute (at both first instance and appeal) concerning resistance of an adjudication enforcement action on grounds that the dispute had not crystallised, and thereafter questions of severance.
  • Lead solicitor for a contractor in £20 million Outer House commercial court preliminary proof and Inner House appeal on prescription.
  • Successfully advised a public body in connected adjudications and litigations on complex construction law matters, and the intricates of a multi-million-pound engineering and transport infrastructure dispute under a bespoke construction contract.
  • Acting for construction professional in the defence of a complex seven party construction dispute arising from -alleged structural defects in a converted hospital building.
  • Acted for an energy provider in an adjudication in which the energy provider successfully claimed a six-figure sum for ‘carbon credits’.
