Tania is a dual-qualified Associate (England & Wales / New York) in the London Office with experience acting for clients on a range of complex commercial and fraud disputes before the English High Court and international arbitral tribunals (LCIA, ICC, LMAA, GAFTA, ad hoc).
Crucial to supporting her client’s proceedings, Tania has experience working on a variety of critical interim applications, including time-sensitive injunctions (anti-suit, freezing), security for costs, evidence preservation orders and third-party disclosure orders.
Passionate about pro bono work, Tania routinely volunteers at the South Westminster Legal Advice Clinic where she advises clients who are unable to afford legal services on a range of matters and she also frequently supports LawWorks’ Unpaid Wages Project. Tania was also a member of the team which delivered the ZEUSS Project which helped “Zambrano carers” to apply to obtain settled immigration status in the UK.
Tania read law at Durham University (UK) where she was awarded academic prizes. She is fluent in French and regularly acts for clients from Francophone countries on English law matters. Tania also speaks conversational Mandarin Chinese.
Experience
- Advising a high-net-worth individual in an action to set aside a judgment obtained by fraud. This involved advising on a number of pre-action preservation orders and third-party disclosure orders which were successfully obtained. The claim is currently on appeal before the English Court of Appeal.
- Advising a chemicals multinational company on the merits of pursuing a claim before the English High Court against a contractor who purportedly breached its obligations under a services agreement.
- Acting for a metals trader in an LCIA arbitration which involved allegations of fraud, conspiracy and misappropriation of goods.
- Acting for an oil major in relation to a sulphur trade dispute under the LCIA Rules.
- Representing a defendant yacht builder in an LMAA arbitration in relation to a number of claims brought by the buyer under the construction agreement.
- Successfully obtained an anti-suit injunction in the English Courts for a trading client operating in Africa.
- Acting for a commodities trading house in relation to a joint venture dispute in an arbitration under the ICC rules involving complex issues of jurisdiction and insolvency.
