Ayse regularly advises clients on multijurisdictional data breaches regarding the application of Canadian and Quebec privacy legislations.

Trained in civil, Common and international law, her curiosity and passion for international experiences brought her to study and work in Turkey, France, Israel, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands and the United States. Ayse is fluent in English, French and Turkish.

Ayse provides advice to international clients in collaboration with counsel in different jurisdictions on multijurisdictional data breaches regarding the application of Canadian privacy legislation and assists with the notification of Canadian individuals and respecting breach reporting requirements. Ayse also acts as breach coach to advise organizations requiring assistance in managing security breaches or other data incidents, providing legal advice on notification and reporting obligations and assisting with engaging technical experts for ransom negotiation, forensic investigation and data recovery as required.

Ayse acts as counsel to a number of major London-based and domestic cyber insurers, providing coverage advice and monitoring the handling of hundreds of security/privacy incidents, including in several privacy class actions. She also advises organizations and insurers on compliance with recent amendments to Quebec privacy legislation.

Ayse is part of the defense team in an ongoing action since 2016 against consulting engineers in a large mining construction project in Northern Quebec with respect to allegations of negligence. She has developed an expertise in e-discovery and technology assisted review in large scale litigation.

Prior to joining Clyde & Co in 2016, Ayse has completed internships at the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) International Court of Arbitration and the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs and worked as a research lawyer at the Federal Court of Appeal, the Quebec Court of Appeal and at the Université de Montréal. Bringing this broad and varied experience to her current role, Ayse is known for her ability to grasp complex matters quickly and her sound legal reasoning.

Highly involved in Montreal’s visual arts community, Ayse is an active member of the Montreal ArtAward Committee, a Clyde & Co initiative which was established to promote and assist emerging artists at the beginning of their careers.

Outside of work, she can be found playing competitive doubles tennis or in the print studio working on her latest art project.
