Full Profile

Emma is a Senior Associate in the Manchester office and has a wealth of experience in costs litigation. She has worked with Clyde & Co for over eight years and was the first Senior Associate in her division.

She undertakes work for a range of insurers, local authorities, public bodies and commercial clients and is skilled at identifying technical challenges, pursuing applications and appeals and undertaking advocacy where necessary.

As part of her practice, Emma works with Clients across all sectors to prepare and oppose budgets for projected litigation spend, high-value inter-partes costs claims, solicitor-own-client audits and provides training and presentations on costs law.

She has spent time in the Sydney office mirroring our Clients’ global footprint, developing best practice and knowledge sharing, as well as strengthen international relations. She has spent the last 12 months dealing with costs in a high profile Public Inquiry.

She is described by one of the sectors Leading Q.C’s as “an excellent lawyer with a keen eye for difficult points of law as well as very sound commercial judgement… and a great pleasure to work with”

Experience
  • In a £6million clinical negligence case funded by a CFA, Emma is awaiting Judgment on whether the CFA Agreement is unenforceable owing to breaches of The Cancellation of Contracts Regulations. This will strike-out the costs, saving her client over £1.5million.
  • In a high-profile Public Inquiry, Emma was instructed to review, analyse and critique the level of costs being spent by one of the Core Participants; a projected spend of over £14million.
