Experience

Successfully defended a claim for costs in excess of £800,000, reducing them to around £70,000 and recovering around £180,000 for the client

Successfully appealed a decision to allow a Claimant indemnity costs rather than fixed costs and recovered all costs of the appeal from the Claimant

Successfully recovered around £100,000 for a client after they succeeded in part at Trial

Providing advice on various retainer documents

Regularly advises on the wording to be included in orders to protect clients’ position in respect of costs

Successfully argued that Part 36 consequences should not apply as the offer was made after an assessment had started and also succeeded on the point that Part 36 benefits were unjust in circumstances where the court started a PA and provided directions but did not complete the assessment until some time later and a Part 36 offer was made after the first order.
