Gareth Noonan is a Senior Associate in the firm’s Doha office. Gareth joined the firm’s Manchester office in the UK in 2020 and moved to the Middle East in early 2024. Gareth specialises in advising clients in relation to disputes under construction and engineering contracts and how best to resolve them. Gareth is experienced in all of the normal forums for disputes including litigation, arbitration and adjudication as well as alternative forms of dispute resolution including mediation and expert determination.
Gareth is a licensed lawyer in Doha and is admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales. Gareth graduated from Sheffield Hallam University before completing the Legal Practitioners Course at the College of Law, Chester.
Prior to joining Clyde and Co, Gareth trained and qualified at Weightmans LLP before moving to Shoosmiths LLP and then Clydes.
Experience
- Advising German owned clients in a multi-party mediation. Our sub-contractor client had been successful in adjudication proceedings and was facing arbitration proceedings in relation to an allegedly defective warehouse roof it had designed and installed. Claims totaling c. £5m.
- Advising a facilities maintenance contractor in relation to a dispute with its employer regarding accounting rebates spanning several years and totaling several million pounds. Navigated claims to a successful mediation.
- Advising a design and build contractor (under a bespoke project agreement) in relation to a multi-site mechanical and electrical project. A multi faceted dispute with commercial and technical arguments involving expert determination.
- Completing a one year secondment for an international contractor and consultant. Acting as in-house counsel dealing with the review and negotiation of new contracts across its various divisions and international hubs.
- Advising a contractor in relation to alleged breaches of a Management contract (c. £500m) and pursuing associated downstream claims.
- Advising a large national hotel chain on its tall building portfolio in relation to fire safety and pursuing associated claims against contractors and designers.
