Jennette joined Clyde & Co in May 2018. Prior to this she was the head of the London office and the head of the Lloyd’s and London market sector for BLM. She has over 20 years legal experience in UK and International casualty claims including coverage and monitoring advice and defence litigation and mediation. She also provides general advisory support and legal risk management advice arising out of a broad range of circumstances, industry sectors, policyholders and risk carriers.

As well as overseeing the service delivery to many major insurers and corporates during her career she has specialised in dealing with complex and multiparty casualty claims and litigation for insurers, reinsurers and risk carriers together with serious bodily injury cases, health and safety regulatory investigations and prosecutions against local authorities, housing associations, construction companies, retailers, leisure services providers, the care sector and other corporate bodies including directors and officers.

She is listed in Legal 500 and Chambers directories, with clients noting she is "highly competent in the area of defendant personal injury litigation and regulatory work" and delivers "superb" client service. (Legal 500 2020). She was recognised by The Lawyer magazine as one of their Hot 100 Litigators in 2019. Jennette has also been elected as President of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers (FOIL).

Experience

Notable cases include:

  • Dealing with a number high profile incidents arising during the making of films - for example we represented the studio in the case of a young stuntman with very significant potential earnings capacity suffered a spinal cord injury (mid-level tetraplegia) during the filming of a stunt. Claim involved excess of loss insurers, multi-disciplinary team of medical experts and forensic accountants. Value of claim in excess of  primary layer insurance and one of the highest pleaded cases in the market.
  • Acted in the case of a young employee in his early 20s, who suffered spinal cord injury (mid-level tetraplegia) and renal failure during a zip wire ride. Pleaded at £7 million.  Extremely complex injuries requiring a panel of medical experts as a result of the renal issues combined with spinal cord problems. Specialist equipment and housing required. Life expectancy difficult as the combination of the two serious medical issues challenged the leading experts. Settled on a PPO basis.
  • Acted for the UK's largest concrete company in relation to the fatality which occurred during the course of Wembley stadium construction.
  • Defended employer of a tunneller injured falling from ladder, suffering a brain injury requiring complex care strategies. No continuing earning capacity, court of protection issues and accommodation complicated by dependants. Valued at £5 million, settled on a PPO basis.
  • Handled a claim arising from a scaffolder who fell from height leaving him in a permanent vegetative state. Claim was valued at £5-7m included a challenge to statutory funding.  Case included serious issues of contributory negligence and multi-party contribution complicating an early settlement.
  • Acted in the Liverpool Docks crane collapse and subsequent injury, property damage and regulatory actions.
  • Acted for the defendants in the Lakanal House fire - criminal proceedings, bodily injury and fatal claims.
  • Defended a contractor in a £5m multi-party liability disputed case involving a worker on a construction site who was crushed by an excavator causing catastrophic injuries to organs and spinal cord.
