Jack specialises in international insurance coverage disputes for global insurance policies relating to alleged, fraudulent misrepresentations and breaches of fiduciary and professional duty by directors & officers and financial institutions. Jack’s core practice areas include both coverage and defence work and he has been engaged in advising insurers on a number of high-value class actions and has handled claims relating to financial crime, bribery and corruption. Jack has also regularly advised on the interpretation of policy clauses and been engaged for policy wording projects.
Jack also has extensive, first-hand experience working directly in the industry on complex, financial lines insurance claims as a claims adjuster, having undergone two client secondments with global insurers in their claims departments, and has a particular expertise dealing with coverage matters in respect of directors & officers and financial institutions. Jack possesses a deep-rooted, practical knowledge of market practices and insurance claims processes, which he brings into his legal practice in order to add value to his work for clients.
Jack is actively involved with several of the firm’s pro bono initiatives involving vulnerable families and children, assisting with immigration issues and citizenship applications for minors, as well as helping vulnerable families obtain aid.
Experience
Successfully negotiating a settlement between insurers and the insured in relation to a claim initially brought for over £3 million following proceedings brought in the High Court in respect of complex insurance coverage issues.
Advising insurers in respect of bribery and corruption proceedings brought by the SEC following major, widescale international fraud.
Defending former directors & officers of an energy company in proceedings brought by shareholders alleging fraudulent misrepresentation under s.90 FSMA 2000 arising out of the company’s initial public offering and a share-drop.
Representing London market insurers in connection with shareholder class actions arising out of litigation brought against insurers for alleged wrongdoing and breach of policy terms in the US.
Advising insurers in relation to run-off policy wordings following an international takeover deal by two companies valued at over £5 billion.
Extensive claims handling experience for two global insurers across a wide variety of directors & officers and financial lines sector matters, including breaches of fiduciary duty, alleged wrongdoing, errors & omissions and financial crime.
