Adam Pryor is a senior associate in Clyde & Co’s Dispute Resolution Group in the Middle East, the leading dispute resolution team in the UAE (and ranked Band 1 by Legal 500). 

Adam’s day-to-day legal expertise is in resolving disputes, particularly involving professional services firms and insurance companies. He has a particular focus on professionals in the construction and engineering sectors, regularly advising engineering and other consultants and their indemnity insurers on risk management, and defending them against claims. 

Adam also specialises in advising insurance companies on a wide range of first and third-party commercial insurance policy disputes and litigation, particularly in the construction and energy context. These include professional indemnity, contractors’ all risks, third party liability, inherent defects covers, and commercial general liability.

Adam’s experience includes high value matters across the GCC nations, particularly the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

Adam transferred to our Dubai office from Clyde & Co’s London office in 2017, and has a broad experience in the DIFC, ADGM and onshore Courts, as well as international arbitration, and mediation.

Experience
  • Al Mojil & Al Mojil v Protiviti Member Firm (Middle East) Limited : CFI-20-2015. Acting for the Defendant in respect of a US$ 500m professional negligence claim in the DIFC Court, arising out of its investigation into the Claimants' company following the company's high-profile listing, subsequent collapse, and the conviction of company officers in Saudi Arabia.
  • Acting for a large international engineering consultancy, defending a significant claim brought by the Dubai government arising out of design work.
  • Acting for a large engineering consultancy in Bahrain, defending a claim brought in respect of design and supervision on a large residential development.
  • Acting for London reinsurers and local insurers in defence of a US$ 100m insurance coverage arbitration under LCIA rules, arising out of an energy project in Abu Dhabi.
  • Acting for a joint venture contractor in pursuit of an AED 1.2bn arbitration under DIAC rules.
  • Acting for insurance market towers up to £300 million, regarding the defence of a potential £1bn claim arising out of a major capital city transport project, which continues to be the subject of a statutory public inquiry.
  • Sebry v Companies House [2015] EWHC 115 (QB). Acting for Claimant in respect of large claim against Companies House regarding the insolvency of Claimant's company (Taylor & Sons Ltd) as a result of information wrongfully published by Companies House on its website. The case created new law regarding duty of care.
  • Providing complex insurance coverage advice to London market reinsurers in respect of high value energy and construction claims.
  • Pursuing recovery actions arising out of a mall fire in Dubai. Claims brought in local Dubai courts. 
  • Acting for large consultancy and construction company in a multi-million pound adjudication arising out of a contractual dispute regarding the construction of a data centre.
