Puneet joined Clyde & Co as a Master Mariner in March 2022 in the Energy, Marine and Natural Resources team based in Guildford, and has been working with various teams across the Guildford, London, Newcastle, Paris, Hamburg, Dubai, and Singapore offices. His seagoing experience spanned over 15 years, and he also worked as a Claims Executive at a leading IG P&I Club before joining Clyde & Co.

Puneet combines his practical experience acquired on ships on worldwide voyages with the legal knowledge gained through an LLM in International Maritime Law (Distinction) from Swansea University, to provide support over a wide range of admiralty matters including collisions, grounding, fires, oil spills, foundering, towage, salvage and wreck removal.

Additionally, he is experienced in handling a diverse range of liquid cargoes – clean and dirty petroleum products, crude oil, chemical as well as LPG cargoes, and thus enabling him provide an expertise on a variety of liquid cargo matters.

Further, his experience of navigating on all major shipping sea routes on ECDIS systems gives him the first-hand knowledge of how ECDIS functions and practical complexities involved with the same.

He is now being trained to qualify as a solicitor in England and Wales.

Experience
  • Providing technical assistance on maritime casualties in Belgium, Gibraltar, Malta, Romania, Sudan and India. Taking witness statements, reviewing experts’ reports, analysing VDR data, engaging with local authorities and surveyors, organising oil spill mitigation measures, and engaging with local lawyers to understand the national applicable laws governing oil spill and wreck removal liability on behalf of P&I as well as H&M insurers are some of the tasks accomplished.
  • Advising clients in relation to claims concerning shortage and / or contamination of liquid as well as dry cargoes including assistance with filling the evidential gaps towards quantity and quality disputes
  • Defending GA contribution claims in circumstances involving passage planning on ECDIS, and other key aspects to ensure due diligence is exercised to make a ship seaworthy
  • Assisting clients on a complex tanker matter involving vapour contamination during STS transfer
