Alfred Theodorou joined Clyde & Co as an Associate in the Marine Assets and Projects team in February 2022. Alfred’s area of expertise focusses on the transactional, non-contentious aspects of marine assets and projects: i.e. ship finance, such as loan agreements financing (or refinancing) including through sale and leaseback arrangements, the acquisition or sale of commercial ships or superyachts and related matters, such as flagging and registration. Alfred acts mainly for shipping companies, many of them listed. Alfred is also involved in matters concerning ship building contracts and yacht building contracts, acting on behalf of the buyers or the shipbuilders.
Alfred is qualified both in England and Wales and Greece. Alfred completed his LLM in Maritime Law at UCL in 2017 and his LLB at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 2016. Before joining Clyde & Co, Alfred was working as a Greek lawyer in Athens, Greece, for three and a half years.
Alfred is fluent in both English and Greek.

Acting for a listed energy company in relation to the financing of the acquisition of two new building vessels by way of sale and leaseback.
Acting for a listed shipping company in relation to the delivery of three (3) newbuild VLCCs from a Korean builder and the immediate sale and leaseback of such vessels to the SPVs of a Chinese financier.
Acting for a major international commodities trader in relation to a project finance transaction concerning sale and purchase agreements for oil products to a private and a public entity in Zambia.
Advising a large multi-national shipping company in relation to two loan agreements, each financing a containership owned by an affiliate of such shipping company, and subsequently the release of the said loan agreements.
Acting for a listed shipping company in various ship sale and purchase.
Acting for a listed, European based, yacht shipyard in a series of cases concerning the construction of mega-yachts.
Representing high net worth individuals in the acquisition or sale of newbuilding or second-hand superyachts.
