Chiara Tondi Resta represents insurers in complex insurance coverage litigation in federal and state court, and arbitration regarding coverage disputes under E&O, D&O, CGL, malpractice liability, and cyber insurance policies. She also provides strategic counseling and serves as monitoring counsel for insurers under a variety of coverages. Chiara is dedicated to doing pro bono work, and in that capacity, she represented incarcerated individuals seeking sentence reductions under DC’s Incarceration Reduction Amendment Act (IRAA) in partnership with Second Look Project (SLP).

Obtained summary judgment that bump-up carve-out barred coverage under USD 50 million D&O tower for USD 78.5 million settlement of lawsuit alleging minority shares were purchased at artificially depressed price, and that certain insured was not entitled to defense costs (2022).
Won dismissal of coverage action for insurer in decision holding that neither Florida nor Delaware law requires insurer to establish prejudice to deny coverage under claims-made-and-reported policies (2022).
Successfully defended against motion to dismiss claiming a competing, later-filed coverage action in Delaware denied jurisdiction to Texas court presiding over the earlier-filed action (2022).
