Dan specialises in large commercial arbitration and litigation, multi-jurisdictional advisory work and Indonesia. He joined the Sydney office in 2019 after being an officer of the Australian government in the International Division of the Commonwealth Attorney-General's Department where he advised the government in relation to treaties and foreign legislation. He currently works in the Projects and Construction practice of Clyde & Co where he acts for and advises multi-national contractors on various major projects, including energy, resources and infrastructure matters.
Since joining Clyde & Co, Dan has been a member of the firm's Indonesia Steering Committee. In 2020, Dan was recognised as the winner of the Lawyers Weekly 30 under 30 awards in the Construction and Infrastructure category. The 30 under 30 awards identify the finest young lawyers across Australia.
Dan graduated from the Australian National University with Honours. During his studies, Dan was the President of the Australian Law Students' Association, won the Australian rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot competition and won Japan's Intercollegiate Negotiation Competition.
In addition to his work, Dan is the co-chair of the ANU Alumni committee in Sydney, Director of the Australia-Indonesia Youth Association, Company Secretary of the ASEAN-Australia Strategic Youth Partnership and Program Manager of the Institute of Migrant Rights in Indonesia.
LNG Project Disputes: Acting for global contractor on disputes arising out of a LNG Project, which is ranked among the most significant oil and gas projects in the world.
Mining Dispute: Acting for global contractor on disputes arising out of a major Australian iron ore project. Dan advised on breach of contract for defective works, delayed completion and equitable estoppel.
Infrastructure Dispute: Acting for global contractor on disputes arising out of the design, supply and construction of a state-of-the-art hospital. Dan advised on breach of contract for defective works, remediation and repudiation.
Water Infrastructure Dispute: Acting for global contractor on disputes arising out of critical new sewerage infrastructure, including concrete structures, pipes and bulk excavation works.
Major Marine Facilities: Advising a joint venture specialising in marine facility design and construction in Australia and South East Asia. Dan advised on intellectual property rights during market tender, FEED study and construction.
Rail Dispute: Advising global contractor in a dispute arising out of tortious claims regarding construction works. Dan advised on State legislation governing acceptable tolerances for construction in residential and urban areas.
Renewable Energy Dispute: Acting for global contractor in a dispute arising out of an onshore wind‑based power project. Dan advised on defects claims, remediation and quantum set-off.
