Full Profile
Maria is a German lawyer at our Hamburg office since June 2021.
She studied law at the University of Hamburg with a focus on maritime commercial law.
Prior to her legal career, Maria first trained as a shipping agent, after which she practised the profession for two years in the chartering & operating department of a long-established shipping company in Hamburg.
She now combines her practical shipping experience with her legal knowledge and is specialised in all legal issues that may arise in conjunction with the maritime industry.
Experience
- Judicial enforcement of claims under a blank endorsed Bill of Lading following a cargo damage in an international shipment;
- Advising a German hull insurer on whether to take recourse in Germany or France following transport damage during a CMR transport;
- Defending a Spanish entrepreneur in German court proceedings following a European payment order in relation to claims against him governed by Spanish law;
- Providing in-depth advice on the extent of liability of a German GmbH director and possibilities of its limitation;
- Advising insurers as a member of Clyde & Co's German Covid 19 task force on business interruption insurance.
