Sarah supervises and manages a large caseload of clinical negligence claims for a variety of clients both in the public sector and for private insurers.  She specialises in complex and high value claims across all areas of medicine, including adult and paediatric brain injury cases and delayed diagnosis of rare genetic disorders.  She has considerable experience of taking claims to trial.  She successfully defended an NHS Trust in a consent case in the Court of Appeal.

Sarah has advised both the NHS and private clients in relation to high profile group actions.

Sarah has an excellent rapport with her clients and her experience working in the public sector enhances her ability to understand her clients' perspective and meet their needs and expectations.

Experience
  • Allegedly delayed diagnosis of a very rare metabolic disorder in an infant resulting in catastrophic brain injury. The medical issues are complex but supportive expert evidence has been obtained.
  • Early settlement achieved in a fatal obstetric claim brought 14 years after the events with no prior indication of any concerns regarding delivery.
  • Delayed diagnosis by 13 years of a rare inherited disorder which has resulted in extensive neurological and vascular damage and an above knee amputation.
  • Close co-operation with the Ministry of Justice in a fatal prison claim achieving a favourable apportionment between the defendants.
  • Representing 3 defendant Trusts in a cauda equina case also involving 3 GPs; liability denied on behalf of all 3 Trusts.
  • Investigating a significant number of potential birth injury claims under the NHS Resolution Early Notification Scheme.
  • Advising a private hospital in relation to a group action involving one of their surgeons.
  • Successfully defending a consent case in the Court of Appeal.
