Tom has extensive experience in advising clients involved in international arbitration and major litigation. He has worked in these fields in London, Sydney and Perth.
Much of Tom's work is cross-border in nature and involves large projects or transactions, especially in the energy, mining, infrastructure and outsourcing fields.
Tom is also experienced in the use of mediation and expert determination. For several years (2006-13), he practised international arbitration and litigation in London at a top-tier law firm.
He is admitted to practice in England and Wales, New South Wales and Western Australia. He is qualified as a Solicitor-Advocate (Civil) in England.

Acting on a series of disputes arising out of a major LNG project, including two ICC international arbitrations and related Supreme Court litigation
Acting for an EPC contractor on two ad hoc international arbitrations arising out of a major mining project in Western Australia
Acting for a contractor on several disputes arising out of the construction of a major public hospital
Acting for Bharti Airtel in relation to a GBP 1+ billion dispute submitted to UNCITRAL arbitration seated in Lagos, Nigeria in relation to a major telecommunications operator in Nigeria and related litigation in Nigeria and the Netherlands
Acting for a major utilities company in relation to a GBP 100+ million ad hoc arbitration seated in London against a UK government department over a long-term PFI agreement
Acting for British Sky Broadcasting Plc in its GBP 500+ million claim in deceit against EDS Corporation in the Technology & Construction Court in London in relation to the outsourcing and implementation of a major technology project (settled following judgment in favour of BSkyB after a 10 month trial)
Acting for a major mining company in relation to an ICC arbitration and associated litigation in the British Virgin Islands concerning rights over mining concessions in Africa
Acting for a European medical products company in Supreme Court of NSW litigation in respect of a dispute with its local joint venture partner including issues related to the development and marketing of surgical implants
Acting for a telecommunications company in Supreme Court of NSW litigation arising out of performance issues in a major telecommunications outsourcing contract
Acting for a listed oil and gas company in Commercial Court litigation in London arising from alleged misrepresentations concerning the technical characteristics of the company's oil exploration areas
Acting for a subsidiary of a major European retailer on a GBP 50 million claim submitted to ICC arbitration in London regarding alleged breaches of warranty in the sale of a subsidiary including a final hearing on liability and quantum
Acting for various investment banks and an export credit agency in an investigation into project financing for a technology company
Acting in relation to various disputes arising out of the company voluntary arrangement with respect to the collapse of a retail hardware chain in the United Kingdom.
