Sarah has dispute and advice experience across a broad range of matters including personal injury claims, and contractual indemnity disputes. She acts for principal contractors and subcontractors on large construction projects and defends manufacturers against claims made under the Trade Practices Act 1974 and Australian Consumer Law. 

She advises clients on complex and sensitive liability and contractual claims, policy coverage, and dual insurance. She also has experience pursuing subrogated recovery claims on behalf of insurers relating to property damage claims under marine craft, home and contents, and motor vehicle policies. 

Sarah has extensive experience acting for insurers, underwriters, and large corporations defending complex, multi-party non-litigated and litigated claims. She has prosecuted and defended litigated claims in the Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts of Queensland. 

Sarah works closely with clients to develop commercial and strategic solutions for each claim. Her proactive and practical approach ensures that claims are resolved successfully and as expeditiously as possible. 

Experience
  • Defending personal injuries claims for large national construction companies and their insurances (both litigated and non-litigated) including complex multi-party claims, and sensitive claims involving death or catastrophic injury.
  • Defending a multi-party dependency claim against an International maritime construction company for the death of a work resulting from a crane accident including providing advice in relation to complex contractual arrangements.
  • Assisting in the representation of directors in the coronial inquest into the deaths associated with the Commonwealth Government's Home Insulation Program.
  • Defending Japanese product and motor vehicle manufacturers against personal injury claims made in negligence and under the Trade Practices Act 1974 and Australian Consumer Law.
  • Successfully resolving matters for both insurers and insureds on construction projects in reliance on contractual indemnities.
  • Advising clients in relation to complex insurance and contractual issues including providing coverage advice, advice on the effectiveness of "other insurance" clauses, and dual insurance.
  • Investigating and defending insurers and insureds in relation to multi-million dollar personal injury claims.
  • Providing advice to clients in relation to various issues under the Insurance Contracts Act 1984 (Cth) including prejudice and delay in notification of claims.
