Inspiring young lives

One of our external Clyde & Community themes is Inspiring Young Lives, supporting education, employment, future talent and entrepreneurship.

The community projects we support and develop around the world embrace the firm’s values of opportunity for all and entrepreneurialism. If you would like to get involved with any if the projects you see below please get in contact with: Debbie Watson

Supporting education and the next generation

Our local offices around the world partner with schools, colleges, community groups and universities to increase opportunities for young people and to broaden their horizons.

In the UK we work with schools such as Sandfield in Guildford, Holy Trinity Primary School in Manchester and Osmani Primary School in London, running schemes for literacy, numeracy and chess. Our international offices work with schools such as the San Wui School in Hong Kong and Hope Primary School in Shanghai.

Preparation for higher education

Our London office's mentoring scheme is offered to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds who are considering a degree, and would be first in their families to attend unviersity. Clyde & Co staff mentor sixth-form students from East London schools to support the development of independent learning and the study skills required for university, as well as helping plan for the future and broadening their horizons.

I feel I have a much better chance for entering university… it helped me choose the right course as I had someone to talk to about it.

Stepney Green Sixth Form Student

As part of these business mentor sessions, Sixth Form students worked with Clyde & Co. business mentors to enter the Tower Hamlets EBP video competition. The Winner of the Secondary and Sixth Form Category 2016 went to students Kabir and Amin with support from their Clyde & Co. business mentor Andrew Primett, for their emotive video on how they visualise the future of Tower Hamlets, London.

Winners: Stepney Green students Kabir and Amin and Clyde & Co business mentor Andrew Primett

Entrepreneurs – businesses of the future

Hatch is an innovative business incubator in South London which supports young entrepreneurs. Clyde & Co staff mentor the young entrepreneures, using their skills to provide practical advice, develop the start-ups and increase the chances of the business succeeding.

The programme is a great opportunity to provide a meaningful contribution to local communities by providing business and legal advice to new enterprises.

It was an incredibly rewarding experience from which I also learned a great deal.

Clyde & Co Hatch Mentor

The programme offered a calm and professional environment to go into on a frequent basis and receive advice from a kind mentor in a completely different field. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
