William is regularly involved in assisting (re)insurer and intermediary clients in the life and general insurance sectors with corporate transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, business transfers, joint ventures, loss portfolio transfers, renewal rights transfers and group re-organisations. Within the Lloyd's market, in addition to general corporate transactions, William has experience advising clients on entering Lloyd's, capacity offers, third party RITC, consortium arrangements and FAL matters. As well as corporate transactions, William regularly advises underwriters and intermediaries on commercial aspects of their operations, such as distribution arrangements and facility agreements.
William has a particular focus drafting and negotiating complex reinsurance and specialty insurance arrangements, in both the Lloyd's and companies markets, covering a range of proportional and non-proportional reinsurance arrangements as well as parametric (re)insurance, bulk annuity and longevity risk transactions, ILS products and other risk transfer arrangements.
In addition to corporate and commercial work, William has extensive experience providing regulatory advice to (re)insurer and intermediary clients. His practice includes advising on PRA, FCA and Lloyd's regulation and covers capital, solvency and governance arrangements as well as conduct requirements.
