Yannis also advises clients on French domestic and European regulatory matters such as the cross-border provision of insurance and reinsurance services, branch business across the EU, compliance with French law provisions for European or non-European insurers and reinsurers.
For the last twelve years, Yannis has been providing advice and delivering presentations to insurers, reinsurers, intermediaries and trade associations on specific legal aspects of the Solvency II project.
Yannis has recently been appointed chair of the State Supervision Working Party of the International Association of Insurance Law (AIDA).
Prior to joining Clyde & Co, Yannis was a partner in a major US law firm. He previously worked at the Economics & Finance Committee of the European insurance and reinsurance federation (Insurance Europe) in Brussels, as well as for Skandia Life in the UK. He holds a Masters degree from Warwick Business School and law degree from Lille University in France.
Yannis is a member of the legal commission and of the run-off working group of the Association of French Reinsurance Professionals (APREF), participated in the work of the legal working group set-up by the French Treasury on the transposition of Solvency II and is secretary of the International Association of Insurance Law’s (AIDA) State Supervision Working Party. Yannis has also been appointed as an expert on the European Commission's Expert Group on European Insurance Contract Law. He teaches insurance law at the Insurance Institute of Paris at Paris Dauphine University.
Yannis is fluent in Greek, French and English.
