Infrastructure

In developed countries, aging infrastructure is in need of replacement or upgrade. In emerging economies, demand for new infrastructure development has risen, not only fuelled by population growth and improved standards of living but also by new global trade networks. To meet this increased demand, it has been estimated that by 2030 US$41 trillion will need to be invested into the build and repair of infrastructure globally.

Working across the worldwide network of Clyde & Co offices, our infrastructure and construction experts advise on some of the world’s most high profile and complex infrastructure work.

Whether procuring project services (as a government client, a developer, investor or funder), or supplying them (as a contractor, consultant or facilities manager), our solution driven service, based on both commercial acumen and technical expertise, is focused on achieving our clients’ goals.

We are proud of our reputation as sector specialists, and focus on:
– Transport infrastructure (rail, road, port, airport)
– Power and utilities
– Development and regeneration
– Social infrastructure

Our work in these sectors spans all procurement methods, including PPP and PFI transactions, as well as international project finance and dispute resolution – whether international arbitration, litigation, adjudication, conciliation or mediation.

We assist clients in building the transport infrastructure that enables an efficient supply chain – for example, the FIDIC contracts for an iron ore mine in Sierra Leone and the associated road, rail and port infrastructure to transport the commodity across the world.
We work with government entities, sponsors and funders to ensure the provision of energy where it’s needed – having drafted and negotiated a bespoke EPC contract for a US$2 billion upgrade of an oil refinery in
Colombia.

We have a detailed understanding of the challenges and opportunities presented by development and regeneration schemes.  With ample experience in dealing with various delivery models and structures on housing, office and mixed use development schemes, we have advised in relation to the substantial refurbishment/redevelopment of a number of sites in the UK, the UAE and Hong Kong.

Lastly, we help clients build the social infrastructure necessary for the operation of societies – having acted on education, health and social care projects around the globe, including advising on the construction, operation and maintenance contracts for a suite of university PPP projects in Abu Dhabi.
