Clyde & Co expands occupational disease team with hires of Thomas Jordan and Jonathan Mitchell

Thomas is a specialist in occupational disease litigation with a specific focus on asbestos-related conditions, and new and emerging risks. Dual-qualified to practise in both England & Wales and Scotland, he brings with him more than 16 years’ experience in claims and risk management for corporate and insurer clients advising across all sectors including construction, manufacturing and the public sector.

Jonathan has more than 13 years’ experience covering a wide spectrum of occupational disease and personal injury claims, notably novel, complex and high value claims. He has also established a niche practice in advising on and defending claims brought under the Equality Act 2010, including claims for discrimination, harassment and victimisation. He is regularly instructed by corporate clients direct as well as insurers to manage these claims on their behalf.

Thomas Jordan says, “Joining Clyde & Co is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a team at the forefront of occupational disease litigation. I have long admired the firm’s innovative approach and its clarity in navigating emerging risks. I look forward to applying my experience – particularly in complex group claims – to help clients resolve high-value disputes efficiently.

Jonathan Mitchell says, “I’m delighted to join Clyde & Co’s leading occupational disease team. Their reputation for handling complex and high-value claims is unmatched. I’m eager to support the team’s continued success in defending novel claims and helping clients mitigate reputational risk.”

The appointments follow the hiring of partner Barbara Goddard who recently joined Clyde & Co’s London disease team from DAC Beachcroft.

David Tait, partner at Clyde & Co, added: “I’m pleased to welcome Thomas and Jonathan to our 85-strong occupational disease team. Their appointments reinforce our commitment to building a nationally integrated disease practice and reflect growing client demand for specialist expertise in complex disease litigation.”

Clyde & Co’s occupational disease and legacy claims team is highly respected within the market, acting for 13 of the top 15 UK insurers as well as SMEs, brokers, public sector and corporate clients.
