Stephanie Andersen, who has advised insurers on coverage and bad faith in Washington since 1992, has tried both coverage and bad faith cases to verdict, including a federal court multi-million-dollar covenant judgment settlement case where the jury found no bad faith.

Stephanie defends insurers under all coverage lines and against extra contractual risks and tries to engage early in the claims process to help minimize her clients’ exposure to those extra-contractual risks.

  • Clark County Superior Court, 18-2-02132-8, de minimis settlement with underlying plaintiff who sought millions of dollars from client for insureds’ decision to forego covenant judgment settlement.
  • W.D. Wash. 2015, below limits settlement with insured for bad faith refusal to replace yacht that sunk on initial launch.
  • W.D. Wash. 2014, lead trial counsel for insurer in which court agreed client owed defense costs for just one of four causes of action alleged against insured.
  • Meadow Valley Owners’ Assn. v. St. Paul Fire & Marine, 2007 WL 563114 (W.D. Wash. 2007), lead trial counsel for insurer in multi-million-dollar covenant judgment matter in which jury found no bad faith.
  • Corbis Corp. v. St. Paul Fire & Marine, 125 Fed. Appx. 792 (9th Cir. 2004), appellate ruling affirming trial court order that client owed no duty to defend insured’s unauthorized publication of plaintiff’s images.
