Thorsten is a Partner in our IT & Data team and based in our Düsseldorf office since May 2026. He advises clients on tech and data with a special focus on strategic sourcing, digital transformation and artificial intelligence.
As a strategic bridge builder between Legal, IT operations and Business units Thorsten is often welcome to support in business critical, large scaled, IT sourcing, outsourcing, data analytics, digital transformation and AI projects of particular complexity. He has also extensive experience in distressed project scenarios, where regulatory specifics matter or where digital sovereignty is key.
Thorsten is author and co-author of 40+ publications on IT and technology matters, has contributed to standard legal literature, such as the Computer Law Guide (Computerrechtshandbuch), the Legal Guide on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (Rechtshandbuch Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning), a standard legal commentary work on the European AI Act as well as to leading jurisprudence journals. Thorsten lectures data law at Saarland University and is a frequent speaker on legal specifics of Tech, Data and AI.
Thorsten has been recognised by Legal 500 as an “excellent IT lawyer, always reliable” and recommended for IT Law since several years in consecutive, also by Handelsblatt/Best Lawyers.
