Full Profile
Julien is an experienced lawyer specializing in complex litigation and insurance matters across North America, with particular expertise in construction, professional liability, and financial risks. He primarily advises London market insurers on high-exposure claims, providing risk assessments, reserve and exposure analyses, oversight of local defence counsel, and strategic recommendations throughout the claims process.
His practice includes overseeing portfolios of claims and circumstances for some of the largest national and international law firms, as well as major Canadian engineering and architecture firms with a global presence. In this role, he works closely with insurers and insureds to develop litigation and resolution strategies for matters involving significant financial and reputational exposure.
Over the past five years, Julien has participated in more than 40 mediations involving large and catastrophic losses throughout Canada and the United States, giving him extensive experience in the assessment, management, and resolution of complex disputes.
In addition to his litigation practice, Julien advises insurers on coverage issues arising under professional liability policies and other specialty insurance products, helping clients navigate complex risk and coverage questions with confidence.
Before joining Clyde & Co, Julien practised in the litigation department of another international law firm. He graduated with distinction from the University of Ottawa, where he participated in an exchange program at Lund University in Sweden and served as a research assistant at the Supreme Court of Canada.
Outside of his practice, Julien is an avid traveller and distance runner who is always planning his next adventure.
