Laure Bonnave practises in cybersecurity, data privacy and insurance litigation, including technology, professional liability, directors and officers, and defamation claims. Laure often acts as “breach counsel” in the event of a cybersecurity incident, and regularly advises domestic and international clients.

Laure has a litigation practice in all areas of insurance, including professional liability, directors and officers liability, construction law and defamation. She has pled before Québec lower courts and the Court of Appeal.

Laure also acts as privacy counsel (“breach coach”) in the event of cybersecurity incidents, such as data or privacy breaches. In her practice, Laure has advised clients on multiple cyber incidents, both locally and globally.

In her role, Laure regularly advises clients on the management of cyber incidents, which includes

  • overall incident response management and vendor coordination;

  • ransomware response and recovery (sanctions, extortion response, compliance risk and threat intelligence);

  • data breach assessment and notification (coordination of measures in response to incidents that have impacts across multiple jurisdictions);

  • payment misdirection fraud, funds tracing and funds recovery;

  • communications strategy and stakeholder management;

  • regulatory reporting (dealing with the OPC, OIPA, CAI and other regulators across 50+ jurisdictions);

  • third party claims disputes;

  • class action risk relating to privacy breaches.
